Map and directions
The cottages are situated on a private estate surrounded by beautiful scenery with magnificent views of Loch Awe and Ben Cruachen. This is an ideal centre for touring the mainland and the Western Isles. Caledonian MacBrayne's ferries leave from Oban for the Inner and Outer Hebrides - including Mull, Iona, Staffa, Coll, Tiree, Colonsay and Lismore. Oban is the main shopping centre for the area and has an indoor swimming pool, leisure complex, cinema and various entertainments for all the family.
Within easy reach there are hill walks, forest walks, pony trekking, boat trips on Loch Awe and Loch Etive, three nine hole golf courses, various beautiful gardens and the impressive Inveraray Castle, seat of the Duke of Argyll. There are good bar meals available in Inveraray and Dalmally.
All the cottages have china, glass, cutlery and cooking equipment provided. There are convector heaters in all rooms and the water is heated by immersers. All the cottages have a private water supply. A tumble dryer which is in the owners garage can be used by visitors. Each cottage has lawn area with garden seat, table and chairs.
Fishing and boating on Loch Awe
A permit is required by all anglers, these are available at Dalmally and Loch Awe villages. The season for brown trout is 15th March to 6th October. There are also perch, pike, roach and rainbow trout in the loch. Boats with or without outboard engines can be hired at Ardbrecknish (a few miles down the loch) from Donald Wilson (Tel: 01866 833 256).
Provisions
There is a small well stocked grocer, Glenview Stores in Dalmally, who delivers on Tuesdays and Fridays, also a chemist, Post Office and railway station. Loch Awe village has a small shop and petrol station which is open 7 days a week.
Dogs
These are welcome provided prior arrangements are made when booking. They must never be left unattended in the cottages nor allowed on the furniture. They must be kept under control as there are both sheep and cattle nearby.
Cots and high chairs
These are available on request but must be booked in advance. Visitors should bring their own cot bedding.
Linen
Each bed is provided with a continental quilt and cover, blanket and pillows. We ask vistors to provide their own bottom sheet, pillow casees, towels and kitchen linen - or these may be hired at a cost of £5 per person provided they are ordered when the booking is confirmed.
Conditions of booking
Lets are from Saturday 3.00pm to Saturday 10.00am. Provisional bookings may be made by telephone but must be confirmed in writing with a deposit of half the total rent. If due notice of a cancellation is given in writing we will do our utmost to re-let the cottage and refund the deposit. However if we are unable to re-let the cottage the tenant is liable for the full rent.
